The best-selling yacht in her class for much of the 1980s, the Hatteras 61 is the first Hatteras motor yacht designed with the galley aft of the wheelhouse rather than down on the lower level. Hull construction is solid fiberglass, and the 61s double-deck layout and widebody interior offers the living space of a much larger yacht. The upper level of the Hatteras 61 is divided into four sections: an enclosed wheelhouse forward, separate galley and dinette area aft, full-beam salon with dining area, wet bar and entertainment center, and a covered aft deck platform with room for line-handling but not much else. A second dinette is down, just forward of the companionway steps. Forward is a guest or crew cabin with over/under bunks and private head with shower. To port, forward of the twin engine rooms, is the VIP guest stateroom with twin beds (or optional double bed) and common day head with separate stall shower. Aft is the full-beam master stateroom with walkaround queen berth, walk-in closet, and private head with tub and shower. The extended flybridge is accessed via a ladder in the wheelhouse. Powered with Detroit 650hp 12V71 diesels, the Hatteras 61 Motor Yacht will cruise at 1617 knots.
