A popular model, the Hatteras 58 was one of the largest full-production motor yachts of her era. Hatteras practically owned the market for big motor yachts in those days, and there was little to compete with the 58 short of an expensive, custom-built yacht. Featuring a full-width salon and offered with or without an enclosed aft deck, the Hatteras 58 was built on a solid fiberglass hull with moderate beam and a long keel. The standard three-stateroom, three-head interior has the salon open to the lower helm and the galley and dinette down. An alternate four-stateroom layout with four heads has the galley on the deckhouse level, open to the salon, with a privacy door separating the lower helm from the rest of the cabin. Aft from the main salon through a sliding glass door is the enclosed aft deck with built-in ice maker. A companionway through the stern leads to the swim platform. The flybridge is accessible from the wheelhouse or from the aft deck. Additional features include teak interior cabinets and paneling, port/starboard wheelhouse doors, separate walk-in engine rooms, and a full-size tub in the owner’s stateroom. Detroit 8V92 550hp diesels cruise at 14–15 knots.

Introduced in 1985, the Hatteras 58 Motor Yacht (note than a previous Hatteras 58 MY model was produced in 1977–81) is a stretched version of the Hatteras 56 Motor Yacht, the boat she replaced in the Hatteras fleet in 1985. The Hatteras 58 is a heavily built boat with a wide 18'2"" beam and full walkaround side decks. The layout is similar to most Hatteras motoryachts of this era with the salon open to the lower helm. The mid-level galley is down several steps from the helm/salon area and features large counter spaces for food preparation, storage lockers, and booth style dinette for four. Forward is a guest or crew cabin with over/under bunks and private head with stall shower. To port, forward of the split walk-in engine rooms, is the guest stateroom with twin berths. A common head with separate stall shower is to starboard. Aft is the full-beam master stateroom with walkaround queen berth (or twin beds in early models) and private head with tub and shower. Additional features include aft deck wing doors, port/starboard wheelhouse deck doors, and laundry center. Detroit 650hp 8V92 diesels cruise at 15–16 knots. The Hatteras 63 Cockpit MY (1986–87) is the same boat with a cockpit extension.

Overview

Heavily built motoryacht with signature Hatteras styling made good on promise of spacious interior, leading-edge luxury.

Comments
