The Hatters 42 LRC MK II introduced in 1980 is a sundeck version of the original 42 LRC MK I model produced in 1976–78. Construction is solid fiberglass, and the full displacement hull of the 42 LRC is designed for extended cruising in comfort and security. The full teak interior of the MK II features a comfortable main salon with built-in convertible lounge to port and U-shaped galley aft to starboard. Large cabin windows provide good visibility from the lower helm, and sliding deck doors provide easy access to the decks. To starboard in the forward companionway is a large locker with space for a washer/dryer. The forward stateroom includes adult-sized V-berths and storage while the full-beam master stateroom has a walkaround queen bed and walk-in closets. Both heads have separate stall showers. A hatch in the teak-and-holly salon sole provides access to the engine room. Additional features include a fiberglass swim platform, integral bow pulpit, hinged radar arch, and teak exterior handrails. With a fuel capacity of 755 gallons, the 42 LRC can cruise over 1,000 nautical miles burning less than 5 gallons per hour. Twin GM 112hp 4-53 diesels cruise at 7–8 knots.
