Grand Banks Yachts
36 Motor Yacht
1995–98
An elegant cruising yacht in the Grand Banks tradition, the 36 Motor Yacht never came close to matching the popularity of the original Grand Banks 36 Classic. They share similar interior layouts, and both are built on the same semi-displacement hull—the difference is on the outside where the 36 MY’s raised aft deck provides a roomy platform for deck chairs, etc. Grand Banks offered a pair of two-stateroom, galley-up interiors in in 36 MY: The standard floorplan has a utility area forward, opposite the head, while an alternate arrangement has a separate stall shower in place of the utility space together with a centerline island bed forward. A lower helm and deck door were standard in the salon, and large cabin windows provide panoramic views of the water. The side decks are wide (as they are in all Grand Banks boats), and the mast can be lowered when approaching a bridge. Additional features include teak decks and cabintop, roomy engine room, bow pulpit, teak swim platform, and an opening front window. A single 210hp Cummins diesel (standard) will cruise at 8 knots, and twin 210s cruise at 10–12 knots.
