Flagship of the Grady-White fleet until she was replaced with 300 Marlin in 1995, the 280 Marlin is a good example of why the Grady-White name is synonymous with sportfishing excellence. This is a classic walkaround fishing boat, a workhorse design that has stood the test of time. (Indeed, there are more than a few industry pros who consider the 280 Marlin among of the best offshore boats her size ever produced.) Built on a solid fiberglass, Hunt-designed hull with a wide 10'7"" beam, the big, uncluttered cockpit of the 280 is her chief attribute. A livewell, fish box, and bait station were standard along with coaming pads and rod holders. Storage compartments are located beneath both helm chairs. There are berths for three in the cabin (including a big quarter berth that extends below the bridge deck) plus a standup head compartment with shower, excellent headroom, and a compact galley with fridge, stove and microwave. Front windowsa signature Grady-White design feature in this model eraallow natural lighting in the cabin. Note the 280s tall windshield and wide walkways. Always in demand, twin 250hp outboards deliver a top speed of about 40 knots.
