260 Sun Sport
1999–2009
The Formula reputation for quality and performance are on vivid display in the 260 Sun Sport, a sleek closed-bow runabout with the comfort and luxury expected in a high-end day boat. Introduced in 1999, the Sun Sport comes with an array of standard features that often cost extra on other boats. She rides on a solid fiberglass deep-V hull with a trailerable 8-foot, 6-inch beam and an aggressive 22 degrees of transom deadrise. The roomy cockpit is arranged with wraparound lounge seating aft and a portside wet bar with sink, concealed trash receptacle, and Igloo cooler. Helm ergonomics—including an individually adjustable doublewide helm seat with flip-up bolsters—are about as good as it gets in a boat this size. Molded steps lead through the windshield opening for bow access, and a removable cockpit table converts the lounge seating into a large sun pad. Smoothly finished storage units are built in for fenders, water toys and personal gear. Below, Sun Sport has a cozy cabin with a luxurious Ultraleather lounge and high-gloss, solid wood table. The big 92-gallon fuel capacity is a plus. Cruise at 26–27 knots with single 310hp MerCruiser sterndrive (low 40s top).
