Formula 26 PC
A good-selling boat, the Formula 26 PC is a well-built express cruiser with a rakish profile and distinctive hull graphics. She’s clearly dated by today’s sportboat designs (note the bolt-on swim platform and bow pulpit), but with her 8-foot, 6-inch beam and comfortable midcabin interior, the 26 PC is still one of the more livable mid-size family cruisers around. She’s also trailerable—the largest ever built by Formula—but at close to 9,000 pounds (including trailer) she’s definitely no lightweight. Hull construction is solid fiberglass, and the deep-V bottom of the 26 PC insures a stable and comfortable ride in a chop. There are berths for six below along with a standup head, convertible dinette, and a small galley. Privacy curtains separate the fore and aft sleeping areas, and the fabrics, hardware, and interior appliances were first rate in her day. Additional features include foldaway cockpit seating, a wide swim platform, and a motorized hatch in the cockpit sole for engine access. A single 330hp MerCruiser sterndrive will cruise the 26 PC at 18 knots (high 20s top), and twin small-block 205hp MerCruisers reach a top speed of close to 40 knots.
