47-50 Squadron

1993–97

Fairline Yachts 47-50 Squadron
The Fairline 50 Squadron (introduced as a 47-footer, the 50 Squadron came out in 1995 with an extended swim platform) is basically a scaled-down version of the popular 56 Squadron introduced in 1993. The split-level floorplan is retained along with the same three-stateroom layout on the lower level, the principal difference being the 47/50’s absence of a dinette and inside flybridge access. Like all Squadron models, hull construction is solid fiberglass, and propeller tunnels are used to keep shaft angles and draft to a minimum. Entering from the cockpit, the salon (whose dimensions are not extravagant) seems unusually wide open and comfortable, thanks in part to the fact that the galley is forward—opposite the helm—rather than farther aft in the salon. Throughout, high-gloss maple joinery and quality furnishings combine to present a very luxurious and appealing interior. Additional features include a crew cabin aft (under the cockpit sole), two large heads with circular stall showers, and a roomy flybridge with plenty of guest seating. Standard 550hp GM 6V92 diesels cruise the Fairline 47/50 Squadron in the mid 20s (about 30 knots top).
