A scaled-down version of the Egg Harbor 41 Sportfisherman (198489), the small cockpit of the 37 Convertible makes her more of a dual-purpose fisherman/family cruiser rather than a pure fishing machine. She was built on a modified-V hull with balsa coring in the hullsides and a relatively flat bottom for lift and acceleration. With a wide 14-foot, 5-inch beam, the Egg 37 is a very big boat for her size. (Indeed, the interior is exactly the same size as the Egg Harbor 41.) The salon is clearly the social center of this boata spacious and comfortable living area with wraparound cabin windows and plenty of well-crafted teak woodwork. A pair of two-stateroom layouts were offered, one with the galley in the salon and the other with a mid-level galley just forward of the salon. While the cockpit is small for a 37-footer, its still large enough for a couple of light-tackle anglers or several deck chairs. Topside, the flybridge is arranged with a centerline helm and bench seating forward. Twin 340hp inboard gas engines were standard for a cruising speed of 18 knots (about 28 knots top. Optional 375hp Cat diesels cruise at 2022 knots. Fuel capacity was increased to 400 gallons beginning with the 1986 models.
