Doral 270 SC
Those seeking a large trailerable family cruiser with plenty of cockpit space will find a lot to like in the Doral 270 SC. This is an excellent choice for day boaters who prefer an expansive cockpit for entertaining and sightseeing at the expense of more limited cabin accommodations. Not everyone will go for this layout of course, but it makes a lot of sense for those who seldom find themselves planning extended cruises to distant ports where the benefits of a spacious interior are most appreciated. The truth is, most folks spend the majority of their time in the cockpit, and it’s here that the 270 delivers big-time with more seating and passenger amenities than one would expect in a 27-footer. A swim platform shower and built-in wet bar were standard, and the helm layout is particularly well done. If the midcabin interior is compact, there are still berths for five along with a full galley and a head with shower. On the downside, side decks are practically nonexistent. Built on a fully cored deep-V hull, a single Volvo 260hp MerCruiser I/O will cruise at 20–22 knots (low 30s top), and a single 340hp MerCruiser I/O will cruise at 24–26 knots (mid 30s top).
