Doral
250 SE
1999–2004
A popular boat with an innovative cockpit layout, the Doral 250 SE is an affordable midcabin cruiser with an impressive list of standard equipment. Just about every pocket cruiser this size has an ungainly, top-heavy profile—if you want standing cabin headroom it’s necessary to raise the foredeck—and the 250 SE is no exception. Built on a fully cored hull with reverse chines and a trailerable 8'6" beam, an expandable cockpit U-lounge with a slide-back aft settee opens up the cockpit to the size of a typical 27-footer. This, combined with the doublewide helm and a portside settee, allows the 250 SE to seat seven or eight people in the cockpit. The midcabin interior will sleep four and comes with a full galley and a standup head with sink and shower. Additional features include a fold-down arch, transom door, transom shower, swim platform, foredeck sun pad, anchor locker and transom storage lockers. Note that there is no wet bar in the cockpit (a curious omission in a boat of this type) and the reverse arch is truly ugly. A single 5.7-liter gasoline sterndrive will cruise the 250 SE at 22 knots and reach a top speed of around 40 knots.
