Doral 270 Monticello; 270 Prestancia
Those seeking a comfortable weekend cruiser with conservative lines and better-than-average quality would do well to consider the Canadian-built Doral 270. (Note that she was called the Doral 270 Monticello in 1989–90.) Introduced in 1989, she rides built on a fully cored, modified-V hull with generous beam and a relatively modest 17 degrees of deadrise at the transom. Her midcabin interior is arranged like most boats of this size and type with double berths fore and aft, a standup head compartment, convertible dinette and a small galley with plenty of storage. While the original decor is obviously dated by today’s art-deco standards, this is a very open and user-friendly layout with good headroom and storage. Topside, an L-shaped lounge across from the helm comes with a built-in wet bar, and a hidden cockpit shower is located near the transom gate. Additional features include a foredeck sun pad, molded pulpit, radar arch, and a wide swim platform. A good performer, twin 205hp V-6 MerCruiser sterndrives cruise the Doral 270 at a brisk 24 knots and reach a top speed in the neighborhood of 34 knots.
