Introduced in 2009, the sleek lines of the Cobalt 296 only hint at the uncommon luxury found within. From the textured vinyl upholstery to her sporty woodgrain dash and leather-wrapped steering wheel, the 296 makes a quality statement few other bowriders can hope to match. Instead of the usual wraparound seating, the double-wide helm and companion seats in the 296 have reversible backrests that become aft-facing recliners. (The optional wet bar behind the captain’s seat eliminates the starboard recliner.) An enclosed head/change room with sink and Porta-Potti is behind the port glove box, the twin aft sun pads lift for engine access. Note the L-shaped lounge and forward-facing seat in the bow area. Standard features include a walk-thru transom, air compressor, extended swim platform, thru-stem anchor system, premium sound system, molded-in gelcoat graphics, bow scuff plate, and trim tabs. Built on a Kevlar reinforced hull with moderate beam, the Cobalt 296 is available with several single or twin engine options. Twin 430hp 8.2L MerCruiser I/Os (optional) deliver a top speed of over 55 knots.
