The Chris Craft 308 Express Cruiser (called the 300 Express in 1999) is a capable, entry-level family cruiser with a contemporary profile and surprisingly spacious interior accommodations. This is a boat designed to satisfy the needs of a growing family looking to move up from their too-small trailerable weekender—a full-size midcabin cruiser with good accommodations and respectable performance at an affordable price. Built on an easy-riding deep-V hull with moderate beam, a well-flared bow and reverse chines, the original midcabin interior of the 300 Express—a poorly designed layout with the refrigerator under the island berth—was completely updated for the year 2000 when she became the 308 Express. This major revision also eliminated the side decks, which permits a roomier cockpit with improved seating. Additional features of the 308 include a walk-through windshield, transom door and shower, cockpit wet bar and a well-arranged galley with adequate storage. Among several sterndrive engine options, twin 5.0-liter I/Os cruise around 20 knots (34–35 knots top), and twin 5.7-liter engines cruise at 26 knots (37–38 knots wide open).
