A popular model, the Bertram 390 Convertible combines the Italian-inspired styling common to many late model Bertram convertibles following Ferretti’s purchase of Bertram in 1998. While the styling was a departure from earlier, more conservative Bertram convertibles, the deep-V hull of the 390 is pure Bertram—a stretched version of the well-regarded Bertram 37 Convertible hull (1986–93) with a stepped sheer, moderate beam, and solid fiberglass bottom. The two-stateroom, galley-down cherry interior of the 390 is a tasteful blend of high-gloss woodwork and quality furnishings. A leather sofa is to port in the cozy salon and an L-shaped dinette with teak table is forward to starboard. The starboard guest stateroom has side-by-side berths rather than the over/under bunks so often found in guest staterooms. Note the overhead rod locker in the salon. The cockpit includes a removable fish box, bait prep center, engine room access, and transom door with gate. The 390's single transverse fuel tank helps minimize trim change throughout fuel load range with minimum effect on the ride. Volvo 480hp V-drive diesels cruise at 24–26 knots (about 30 knots top).
