The Gran Tourismo 49 is the first Beneteau to have a hull specifically designed for use with Volvo's IPS pod drives. Stylish and sporty with a spacious interior, a glass door closes off the cockpit to create a second lounge area inside with panoramic views of the water. Large windows add to the impression of spaciousness in the salon where headroom is a full 6'6"" in height. A U-shaped sofa and table are opposite the starboard-side helm and a cabinet aft of the helm contains a flat screen TV. The opening roof provides ventilation when the weather is good and the galley, located below the lounge, is completely open and bathed in natural lighting from the windshield above. There are two double staterooms below including a full beam master aft. Both heads have separate stall showers. A large tender garage provides storage space for a nine foot inflated dinghy with its engine in place. A sun lounger with folding backrest is forward and the cockpit table lowers to create a sun pad. The submersible swim platform is designed to take a load of a jet-ski when underway. A popular model for Beneteau, Volvo 435hp IPS 600 pod drives cruise at 22–24 knots (30 knots top).
