Launched in the fall of 2016, the Back Cove 32 is a single-engine Downeast cruiser with the built-in durability and ease of maintenance common to previous Back Cove models. Borrowing from the company web site, the “single-level deck from transom to companionway brings the social spaces of the cockpit and pilothouse into one, offering a seamless transition between indoors and out. The galley-up design opens sightlines all around the boat making the upper level of the Back Cove 32 ideal for entertaining or relaxing.” Below, the layout is ideal for the cruising couple with an exceptionally large island berth forward, split head and shower units, generous storage, and teak and holly cabin sole. The social center of the boat is the main deck area with its open-air galley, versatile dinette, and extended hardtop with sun roof. The overhead grab rails are a thoughtful touch, and large windows provide excellent visibility in all directions from the helm. Twin L-shaped transom seats in the cockpit flank a centerline transom gate. A single 370hp Volvo D6 diesel will cruise the Back Cove 32 at 20–22 knots (mid 20s top). An optional 435hp Yanmar will cruise at close to 25 knots.
