Viking 82 Makes Waves: HMY Set to Deliver First Enclosed Bridge Model Amid Growing Demand

Since its debut at the 2024 Viking Dealer Meeting in June, the Viking 82 Convertible has taken the marine industry by storm with 17 models already accounted for. In approximately November of this year, HMY will have the honor of delivering the very first enclosed bridge version of the 82, hull number four, and we could not be more excited with two more enclosed bridge hulls starting their build process as well.

Over time, Enclosed Bridge sportfish boats have dramatically increased in popularity for numerous reasons, specifically for customers looking for sportfish boats over 65 feet. Enclosed bridges provide a quiet, air-conditioned space for crews that travel to extensive destinations. An enclosed bridge can also act as a secondary salon where owners and guests can enjoy the action in comfort on the way to the fishing grounds. Additional amenities such as refrigeration and more storage space are a big benefit for crews on longer trips. With the 82, Viking has taken a proven winner in the design of the enclosed bridge on the 80 and refined it with features such as a one-piece windshield that provides unobstructed views forward and the one-piece raised black wraparound electronics pod with integrated visor holding up to five MFDs.

As enclosed bridge models have evolved over the last three decades at Viking, the brand has revolutionized the skybridge as a newer concept in the sportfishing world. For those who still enjoy connecting with the water and the elements on occasion, the skybridge acts as a convertible helm area that takes place of a tuna tower. Simply walk up a ladder from the aft deck of the enclosed bridge, and you will find an elevated space that makes running and fishing the boat a joy. With a port side console equipped with a flush mounted black acrylic helm that can include a suite of MFD’s, a captain can control the vessel with ease at his fingertips.

Along with hull #4 of the 82, HMY is currently assisting with the process of two additional skybridges and one traditional enclosed bridge with a gap tuna tower from Palm Beach Towers. Each one of these vessels is being designed slightly different to achieve the customer’s goals, and Viking and HMY continue to collaborate with one another to ensure that the customer achieves the boat of their dreams.
