The 2024 Palm Beach International Boat Show Experience: A Recap

The 2024 Palm Beach International Boat Show Experience: A Recap

By Kimberly Smith   April 2, 2024

During this year’s iteration of the Palm Beach International Boat Show, HMY Yacht Sales had a standout display – one of the largest our team has ever put forth - and a great turnout of attendees. With such excellent action at this show, we can’t help but relive it! Come along with us for a recap of our 2024 PBIBS experience.

With over 45 pre-owned boats in the HMY display this year, our sales professionals saw a solid amount of activity, much of it being high-quality. For HMY, Palm Beach is the best show of all to see clients and strengthen relationships (a core tenet of our philosophy). Due to the show being in our backyard, we can see many clients and have morphed our display tent into a luxurious customer lounge.

Day two of the Palm Beach International Boat Show brought some weather with it. While the rain wasn’t exactly ideal, industry veterans know a little foul weather won’t deter serious buyers.

One of our sales professionals was interviewed by CBS News 12 and shared his perspective saying, “I think if someone is really interested in buying a boat, they’ll brave the rain, grab a rain jacket, grab an umbrella, and come out because you have a prime opportunity to see everything,” said David Zarrello.

When speaking to HMY’s Director of Sales, Tim Derrico, about the overall success of the show he said it was “a very good show, in spite of some weather issues. The rainy day, Friday, actually turned out to be the most productive day when it comes to deals.”

HMY saw several brokerage boats sold, with plenty more opportunities on the horizon. As for our new boat brands HMY had several new Princess sales, one Valhalla V-41 and we are working on a handful of new Viking deals including the just announced model – the Viking 82. Our Two Oceans Power Catamaran display was productive with a couple of new boat deals being worked on and a contract on another.

Additional highlights at the show included the exciting announcement of the new Princess F58 model. From Valhalla we saw the debut of the  Valhalla V-29 Hybrid and for the first time the Valhalla V-28 Bay Boat was on display in Palm Beach.

With each passing year, Informa continues to work towards elevating The Palm Beach International Boat Show to a world-renowned yacht show, and Tim believes they are well on their way to making this happen. “I definitely consider Palm Beach a top 10 show globally. You can leave a 200’ yacht and walk onto a 20’ center console. Customers can park within a few blocks or even take a train in, making access a breeze. They can then leave the show and hit some fantastic restaurants. We call it the ‘gentleman’s boat show’.

If you missed out on the Palm Beach International Boat Show this year, we hope you’ll join us on Flagler Ave. in 2025! The next boat show that HMY Yacht Sales will attend in 2024 is the Newport International Boat Show in Rhode Island, where we will debut, for the first time, the brand-new ECLIPSE 505 Express Cruiser.

HMY Yachts Sales still has a lineup of quality listings available in the Palm Beach, Florida area. Contact an HMY Yacht Sales Professional or view all our yachts for sale here.
