The new 38 Open Billfish from Viking Yachts blends the sportiness and purpose-built practicality of the Billfish series with the versatile command-deck design of the Viking open express boat. She runs on the same modified V hull as the 38 Billfish, which has received rave reviews for its smooth dry ride and nimble handling at speed and when backing down.
A raised centerline command station gives the captain clear sight-lines in all directions and is equipped with a fiberglass (or optional faux teak) helm pod, power-assist hydraulic steering with stainless steel wheel and Palm Beach-style controls. The Cummins Inboard Joystick System brings a new level of confidence in close quarters and around the docks. Twin 16-inch multi-function displays anchor a complete Garmin package on hull No. 1.
A starboard-side companionway leads below, where you’re greeted with hand-finished, high-gloss teak and Amtico flooring in a soothing climate-controlled living area. A starboard-side sofa across from the galley seats up to four and can also be used as an additional bunk.
The private head has a large walk-in shower with satin nickel fixtures and an attractive Corian-topped vanity with sink and storage.
Forward of the head and also on the port side, the galley has everything you need to prepare and serve meals: a Corian countertop, two-burner electric stove, microwave/convection oven, upper and lower cabinet storage with maple interiors and under-counter drawer-style refrigeration with built-in ice maker. Forward, the cabin is appointed with a lower double bunk and an upper single, along with lots of storage capacity — a maple-lined hanging locker as well as drawer and cabinet space.
