Model names carry suffixes — E, C, and CB among them — that denote series and bridge arrangement, and listings are not always consistent about them, so confirm from the specification whether a given hull has an open flybridge, an enclosed or command bridge, and where the second helm actually is before comparing two boats on price.

That brief is what should shape the survey: these are systems boats, and the systems carry the value. Check generator hours against service records, stabilizer type and condition, watermaker, hydraulics and thrusters, fuel capacity, tankage and fuel-polishing equipment, HVAC, and the age of the navigation and monitoring electronics. On the mechanical side, look at main engine hours in the context of how the boat was used, shaft and strut alignment, cutless bearings, running gear, and paint condition. A hull that has actually cruised and been maintained on schedule usually surveys better than a low-hour boat kept at the dock, and a documented refit or electronics update is the item most likely to justify a price difference between otherwise similar Explorers.
