Welcome aboard the 2009 52 Cabo Flybridge Convertible "Trashy Thoughts". She is quite simply the most rare, most desirable and finest Cabo ever constructed. The Michael Peters hull design of the 52 is widely renown as one of the best riding 52’ production hulls ever built.
Of the approximate 20 52 Cabo hulls built, there were only two convertibles. Of those two, the 09 now known as “Trashy Thoughts” is the only one built with big C 32 CAT power, a full tower and rigged for fishing. She is an absolute beast capable of easily cruising in the 32-knot range with wide open speeds in the 40-knot range depending on load and conditions.
Under current ownership TT has been reborn better than ever! From 2021 to 2025 she has been refit top to bottom. She has had a full paint job, SEA KEEPER 10 GYRO STABILIZER, all new teak deck and covering boards, electronics, cushions, and an interior refit. The comprehensive list goes on and on and is included in her full description.
In addition to being visually stunning and a monster sea boat, “Trashy Thoughts” is a proven fish raiser and tournament champion. She has won the WORLD SAIFFISH CUP under previous ownership plus numerous win/place/show finishes in big game events up and down the eastern seaboard.
Her interior layout, thanks to a 17'9" beam, offers a best-in-class layout and more on-board storage than any other 52-foot vessel I have ever seen. The manageable size and unprecedented volume of TT translates to a versatile, owner operable family fishing vessel.
This is not your average 52-foot sportfish. She has a cult like following, worshiped in Cabo circles and affectionately referred to as The Unicorn! She must be seen to be appreciated.

Are you in the market for a hardcore sportfish boat between 50 and 60 feet? If your answer was yes, you just found it. I'm on board the 2009 52-foot Cabo convertible Trashy Thoughts. And have I got a special boat for you today. Here we are in the cockpit of the 2009 52 Cabo Trashy Thoughts. And I'd like to take a minute to tell you about some of the things that make this boat so special. They only built two of these 52 Cabos in a convertible style. And this is the only one ever built with the biggest horsepower caterpillars available and a full tower. So it's a genetically engineered, owner operable, hardcore fish rigged boat. All the teak. Over the last couple of years, she's been completely refit. So all the teak out here in the beautiful cockpit is all brand new just a year ago. The boat has full paint, a factory mezzanine, a Seakeeper gyro stabilizer 10. It has a completely new interior, electronics. As we go through the boat, I'll point out all these little things that make Trashy Thoughts your boat. As I mentioned in the intro, all the teak, the teak decks, the teak covering boards were all brand new just a year ago. Your pump in it, Manta, Rocket launcher is the centerpiece of the cockpit. She has an Eskimo ice chipper that dumps up on the starboard side here forward. Twin big macerated fish boxes. The port side fish box has dual chiller plates. Huge transom live well and a factory mezzanine seating with upgraded double stitched upholstery. Faruno electronics display here so you can see your depth while you're fishing, know where you're going. Here's a cockpit sunshade, which isn't on right now, but I can't say enough about how this boat fishes and how this boat travels and lives. Let's head inside to see the refit interior. Now just a couple of years ago, Trashy Thoughts had a complete interior refit. All new granite countertops. You'll see the L-shaped settee here, port side aft, all new leather that applies to the dinette as well. Custom carpeting throughout and it's a bound removable carpet if you wanted to take it up. Then there's real teak and holly sole throughout the boat. Your galley here has dual undercounter refrigerator freezer drawers, four drawers, two freezer, two fridge. Excellent storage on board, deep stainless steel sink. With this little electric button here in the galley, you'll reveal a storage area under the galley sole that I've never seen on a vessel of this size. The 17 foot 9 inch beam aboard the 52 Cabo Trashy Thoughts allows for a huge volume and the best use of space down below that I've ever seen in a three stateroom, two head arrangement. Let's take a peek. Here in the foyer down below, I'd be crazy if I didn't highlight the amazing custom rod storage available here on Trashy Thoughts. The downstairs layout, as I mentioned, is a three stateroom, two head layout. Immediately to port is your master stateroom with a private ensuite head. On the starboard side, guest stateroom with a large underneath berth and also a custom storage locker that was converted from a berth that could be put back to an additional bunk in that guest stateroom. All the way forward is the VIP stateroom, which is an island queen berth. Great for another couple. There is a day head access on the starboard side and private access through that VIP stateroom as a full head. Here we are up on the flybridge of the 52 Cabo Trashy Thoughts. We have a completely redesigned custom helm and updated electronics with a triple TZ touch Furuno screens. We have a bow thruster up here, fusion sound system, dual VHF radios. You'll notice all the upholstery is redone up here. We have teak helm and companion chairs. There's even a teak deck up on the flybridge. Great forward seating. And there's also air conditioning and climate controls up here on the bridge. Last but not least, button for hydraulic outriggers. So we're here in Lake Worth, Florida doing the video. And as we sit here, the seatkeeper gyro stabilizer 10 is on. We have boats zooming around all around us and the boat just sits and it's not rocking and rolling. Another thing we'd like to show you when we're out on the ocean. So I've been at the helm of Trashy Thoughts and fished this boat extensively. I know what she's capable of. This is one of the best running hull bottoms you'll ever find for her size. Michael Peters hull, soft, dry in a head sea, super fast with the big cat power. So 1675 cats push her at speeds and I've personally seen 40 knots at wide open throttle. Let's take her for a sea trial and prove it to you. Thanks for joining me today aboard the 2009 52 Cabo convertible Trashy Thoughts. I hope after this video you can fully appreciate how special this vessel is. If you'd like to see her in person, please feel free to contact me directly. My name is Mike Scalesi with HMY Yachts and I appreciate the opportunity to earn your trust and business.
