63 Cockpit Motor Yacht
1988–91
The Viking 63 Cockpit MY began life in 1987 as the Gulfstar 63 CMY—basically a Gulfstar 55 MY with a cockpit extension. Gulfstar built only a couple of these models before the company was acquired by Viking late in 1987. Reintroduced as the Viking 63, the deckhouse was slightly redesigned, but the four-stateroom interior remained unchanged. This is an expansive galley-up floorplan with a separate wheelhouse and two salon staircases—one leading up to the bridge and the other leading down to the master stateroom. Two of the three guest staterooms have queen berths, and a utility room aft contains a washer/dryer and workbench. Viking offered the 63 CMY in Walkaround (with full side decks) and Widebody (no side decks but with a spacious full-width salon) configurations. The aft deck is small, but the cockpit is large enough for deck chairs or fishing. Additional features include a big engine room with standing headroom, a tub/shower in the aft head, foredeck seating, and a formal dining area in the salon. GM 735hp 8V92 (or Cat 800hp 3408) engines cruise the 63 Cockpit MY at 18 knots. Optional GM 900hp 12V71s cruise at 22 knots.
