Vantare

58 Pilothouse

1987–90

Vantare 58 Pilothouse
With her short foredeck and full-bodied profile, the Vantare 58 Motor Yacht (and her sistership, the 64 Cockpit MY) may not have the most graceful profiles in the marina, but she has the interior volume of much larger boat. The Vantare was built by Chung Hwa in Taiwan on a fully cored hull with a wide 17'6" beam and a shallow keel. Her four-stateroom floorplan is fairly conventional with two exceptions: The main deck dimensions seem particularly spacious, and one of the guest staterooms is designed to serve as an office with a built-in desk and bookshelves. The full-width salon is open to the galley and sliding glass doors lead to the semi-enclosed afterdeck. Light oak or traditional teak cabinetry and woodwork were used throughout the interior. Standard 375hp Cat diesels cruise either boat at 13–14 knots. Optional 550hp 6V92s cruise the Vantare 58 around 15 knots (17–18 knots top), and 735hp 8V92s cruise at a respectable 18–19 knots and reach a top speed in the low 20s. Although the floorplan isn’t shown below, the 64 Cockpit MY was also available with the engine room aft of the master stateroom, a configuration made possible by the use V-drives.
