Tempest 42 Sport Yacht
The Italian profile of the Tempest 42 is more than just skin deep; she was originally designed and built for the Mediterranean market by Baglietto, the Italian motor yacht builder. Tempest purchased the molds in 1988 and quickly redesigned the bottom, revised the interior layout, and added Tempest’s unique “T-Torque” fixed-drive system. The 42 was a limited production boat, and fewer than a dozen were built. Perhaps the most attractive feature of the 42 is her sculptured cockpit with curved lounge seating, circular sunpad, and gorgeous helm console. There’s one basic interior layout, and the decor is high-style Italian with plenty of off-white laminates, rich fabrics, and designer furnishings and appliances. Additional features include an open transom, reverse radar arch, hand rails for the swim platform (nice touch), and the notable lack of any foredeck rails or a bow pulpit. The Tempest 42 Sport Yacht is a real performer. With standard 375-hp Cat diesels, she’ll cruise easily at 33 knots and reach a top speed of about 37 knots. Larger GM 6V92TAs were optional.
