The Tempest 60 was a limited production high-performance sportboat with a thoroughly European profile and an upscale price tag. Fully half of her length is given over to a huge bi-level cockpit which includes a collapsible sun lounge, fore and aft bench seating, and wet bar. Her space-age helm console—with retractable electronics pod and single-level controls—is impressive. The high-style interior of the Tempest is a striking blend of mirrored walls, lacquered cabinetry, indirect lighting, and suede wall coverings. While the interior dimensions are modest for a 60-footer, the master stateroom (aft, under the bridgedeck) is very large and features a bathtub in the head. The guest stateroom is forward, and there’s a third sleeping area in a small compartment abaft the engine room. With Tempest’s unique “T-Torque” drive system, the shafts (fixed at an 8 degrees down-angle) extend through the transom. The Tempest 60 performs well at speed (when the props are partially exposed) and in shallow water. Standard 1,050hp Cats provide an exhilarating 35-knot cruising speed and 40+ knots top.
