SeaVee
290 Open
2005–Current
The SeaVee 290 Open is an updated version of the company’s original 290 Open (2000–04) with a wider beam (8'3" vs. 9'0") and a revised deck layout. In most respects the two boats are very similar, but the cockpit of the second-generation 290 Open is bigger and the increased beam results in a more stable fishing platform at lower speeds. With lots of space around the console and abundant storage, the 290 is spacious for a fishing boat this size. The hull is vacuum bagged to reduce weight, the 290’s steep 25 degrees of transom deadrise ensures a smooth ride to and from the fishing grounds. Standard features include an integrated swim/dive platform, anchor locker, in-deck fish box forward, 50-gallon transom livewell, transom door, fresh and raw water washdowns, leaning post, pop-up cleats, front console seat, lockable rod storage, and a walk-in console with forward entry. An innovative cooler slides out on a track from under the leaning post. A Luxury Edition (LE) available since 2016 offers molded-in forward seating and an optional rear bench. The 290 was updated in 2018 with increased fuel capacity. About 45 knots top with twin 250hp outboards; nearly 55 knots top with twin 400s.
