400 Express Cruiser

2006–10

Rinker Yachts 400 Express Cruiser
Rinker got it right with the 400 Express Cruiser (called the 390 Express Cruiser when she was introduced in 2006), a value-priced sterndrive cruiser loaded with standard features. Like all Rinker boats, she rides on a modified-V hull with moderate beam and a solid fiberglass bottom. The 390/400’s tall freeboard results in an exceptionally spacious interior with nearly seven feet of cabin headroom. The master stateroom is forward in this layout and includes a queen island berth and flat-screen TV. But it’s the huge aft stateroom that comes as a surprise, a feat made possible by Rinker’s decision to use space-saving sterndrive power in this boat rather than more conventional inboard (V-drive) power. Both staterooms come with privacy doors rather than curtains—a real plus. Satin-finished cherry joinery is applied throughout the interior that also features a Corian galley counter and teak flooring. The split-level cockpit, with seating for a small crowd, includes a full-service wet bar with icemaker, double helm seat with flip-up bolster, walk-through windshield, and transom shower. MerCruiser 375hp I/Os cruise at 25 knots (35+ top). Axius Drives became optional in 2008.
