272 Captiva Bowrider
1999–2002
Introduced in 1999, the Rinker 272 Captiva is an entry-level bowrider that came standard with a long list of standard equipment—an affordable boat for fun in the sun. Hull construction is solid fiberglass, and the Captiva’s generous 9-foot beam results in a roomy interior with seating for 7–8 adults. The cockpit seating plan differs from the traditional U-shaped lounge found in most bowriders. Instead, the Captiva’s layout has L-shaped lounge aft and a curved seat/lounge forward, opposite the helm—a more open layout with lots of room to move around and socialize. Because the cockpit is large, however, there is no aft sun pad which is common to many modern bowriders. Storage is abundant in this boat, and the enclosed head/change compartment under the passenger-side console is surprisingly large. Additional features include wraparound bow seating, cockpit wet bar with refrigerator, in-floor ski storage, tilt steering, walk-thru windshield, swim platform, stereo sound system, and transom shower. A good performer with a single 320hp MerCruiser Bravo III sterndrive, the Captiva can reach a top speed of nearly 40 knots.
