270 Express Cruiser
1999–2007
Bargain hunters looking for a big 27-foot family cruiser at an affordable price found much to like in the Rinker 270 Express Cruiser. This is a boat that offered a lot of bang for the buck when she was new with many of the features found in boats that cost considerably more money. Built on a solid fiberglass modified-V hull with a wide 9'1" beam, the Rinker 270 is not trailerable (without a permit, that is) like a good many 27-foot boats. The interior is arranged like most mid-cabin cruisers her size with a convertible dinette/V-berth forward, complete galley, enclosed head with shower, and a double berth aft with a curtain for privacy. The single-level cockpit—updated in 2002 with a wet bar and double helm seat—has lounge seating aft and a transom door. Standard features include a walk-through windshield, electric engine hatch (which is actually part of the rear seat) windshield wiper, and transom shower. Among many sterndrive engine choices, a single 320hp MerCruiser 6.2L will cruise the 270 Express in the low 20s and top out at 35+ knots. With just 100 gallons of fuel capacity don’t plan any long trips.
