Ranger
R-27
2011–Current
The Ranger R-27 is a trailerable coastal cruiser whose salty tug-like appearance makes her one of the most distinctive small boats on the water. The R27 offers the comfort and fuel economy of a big trawler in a smaller package. Built on a shallow-draft hull with high bow freeboard and a slender 8'6" beam, the well-appointed cabin of the R-27 has an amidships office with desk and chair that convert to a berth for two. The forward V-berth sleeps two adults and is over 6'5" in length. In the salon, a compact galley to starboard includes a sink, refrigerator, inverter, microwave and propane stove/oven. A standup head/shower is aft of the galley next to the salon entry door. The back of the passenger seat folds forward to extend dinette area, and a mid-cabin—tucked under the dinette—can sleep two. Molded steps in the cockpit corners provide access to the R-27s narrow side decks. Standard features include bow and stern thrusters, teak and holly cabin sole, transom door, rod holders (2), trim tabs, cockpit lights, and a swim platform with rails. Cruise economically at 10 knots (16–18 top) with a single Yanmar 180hp diesel.
