Pace
36 Convertible
1988–1991
The classic Egg Harbor 36 Sedan (1976–85) was reborn for a time in the look-alike Pace 36 Sport Fisherman. Built in Taiwan using the original tooling and molds, the low-deadrise Egg Harbor hull was first used in the 1970s in the Pacemaker 36 and only later served as the platform for the Egg 36 Sedan. The Pace 36 is a good-looking boat with her traditional Jersey-style profile accented with a black wraparound deckhouse mask. Two floorplans were offered: a two-stateroom layout with the galley up, and a single-stateroom, galley-down arrangement with a much more open salon plus an island berth forward. Like most Asian-built yachts, the interior is completely finished with well-crafted teak joinery. The cockpit came with a molded bait station, tackle center and transom door, and the flybridge is arranged with bench seating forward of the helm console. Additional features include a teak cockpit sole and covering boards, sliding cabin windows, and bow pulpit. Standard Crusader 350hp gas engines cruise the Pace 36 at 18 knots and top out in the high 20s. Optional 320hp Cat diesels cruise around 20 knots and reach 25–26 knots wide open.
