Ocean Yachts 56 Super Sport
The Ocean 56 Super Sport is a downsized version of the popular Ocean 60 Super Sport with slightly reduced cockpit dimensions. The hull is the same (only shortened), the flybridge is identical, and the spacious three-stateroom interior of the 56 Super Sport is a virtual clone of the 60’s Plan A. A beaujpgully styled yacht, the 56 was offered at a surprisingly affordable price compared with others in her class. Below deck, the lush interior is a blend of deep-pile carpeting, varnished teak joinery, and designer fabrics. The three-stateroom, three-head floorplan, with its full-beam master stateroom beneath the elevated galley, is as practical as it is innovative. The galley and dinette are a step up from the salon on the deckhouse level, and headroom is a full 6 feet, 5 inches throughout the interior. Even with its reduced size, there’s still plenty of fish-fighting space in the cockpit where a transom livewell, tackle center with freezer, washdowns, and rod storage were standard. Topside, the flybridge has a wraparound helm with rod storage and seating for six. A good performer, optional 1,050hp 10-cylinder MAN diesels cruise the 56 Super Sport at 32 knots and deliver a top speed of 34–35 knots.
