Designed for fishing and cruising, the MJM 35z is a high-tech sport yacht whose classic lines, outboard power and epoxy composite hull place her at the forefront of modern Downeast designs. A slender 11-foot beam limits interior volume in the 35z but her efficient layout results in as much usable deck (and storage) space as many larger boats. With no aft bulkhead, the pilothouse is open to the cockpit with its rear-facing jump seats and two-person bench seat. The pilothouse settees form two additional berths and helm visibility is excellent is all directions. Belowdeck accommodations include a convertible V-berth/dinette forward, galley with sink and refrigerator, and an enclosed standup head with shower. A wraparound curtain provides privacy in the cabin. Note the side-boarding doors for easy access and exit. An optional fishing package includes a 35-gallon livewell, bait station, and two fish boxes. The 35z’s standard configuration features twin 300hp Mercury Verado or Yamaha power, joystick docking, GPS station keeping, autopilot, engine auto-trim, and a choice of roll-up Strataglass or sliding safety glass sides. The cruising speed is 30–32 knots and the top speed is close to 40 knots.
