2700 SCR

Arguably the best-selling Maxum boat ever produced, The majority of 27-foot express cruisers built for the American market during the past three decades have been trailerable models. In practically every state in the country, that means the beam cannot exceed 8'6" in width. The Maxum 2700 SCR, however, is not trailerable and that makes her different from most boats her size. Indeed, with her wide 9'8" beam the accommodations aboard the 2700 SCR dwarf those of most other 27-footers. Introduced in 1993, this widebody cruiser became a popular model for Maxum during her production life. Beginning with a roomy, user-friendly cockpit with facing rear seats and a triple helm seat and extending into the spacious interior with convertible dinette and berths for six, the SCR is a comfortable and well-equipped boat. The booth-style dinette isn’t crowded; the head isn’t too small (as it is in many small cruisers), and galley storage exceeds anything in her class. On the downside, Maxums of this vintage were inexpensive boats so don’t expect much in the way of leading-edge finish. Note that while her wide beam compromises performance, it also improves stability. Twin 280hp MerCruisers I/Os max out at close to 35 knots.
