Lien Hwa
47 Cockpit MY
1990–99
Marketed as the Tradewinds 47 on the East Coast and the Vitesse 47 on the West Coast, the Lien Hwa 47 was an affordably priced cockpit yacht whose sporty lines and spacious interior made her a popular boat during the 1990s. Lien Hwa began building this boat as a straight 42-foot sundeck model in the late 1980s, and the addition of a cockpit in 1990 made her an even more desirable yacht in the eyes of many. She’s built on a conventional modified-V hull with a sharp bow entry and a wide 14'11" beam. Her spacious two-stateroom floorplan is arranged with the salon overlooking the galley and dinette below. The wide-open salon comes at the expense of a relatively small forward stateroom, however, and the absence of a separate stall shower in the forward head is notable in a boat this size. A lower helm (with a deck access door) was standard, and the interior is completely finished with an abundance of well-crafted teak woodwork. Additional features include very wide side decks, a teak cockpit and aft deck overlay, hardtop, and a folding arch. Optional 375hp Cat (or 330hp Cummins) diesels cruise at 19–20 knots (low 20s top).
