Hi-Star Yachts
55 Pilothouse
2002–06
The Hi-Star 55 (also marketed as the Altima 55) is handsome pilothouse yacht whose combination of quality construction, spacious accommodations, and affordable price make her a serious contender in the U.S. motor yacht market. Built by Hi-Star in Shanghai, the 55’s vacuum-bagged hull is cored above the waterline and features a shallow keel for directional stability. Like most modern pilothouse yachts, her three-stateroom interior is arranged with the galley and dinette forward, on the pilothouse level, creating a spacious and wide-open salon area. Note that a day head is located just inside the salon entryway—a convenience almost never seen in a yacht this size. Below, there are three staterooms on the lower level, including a lavish full-beam master, a VIP cabin forward, and a second guest stateroom with twin berths that can also be configured as an office. A cockpit hatch provides access to a spacious, standup engine room. Topside, the large flybridge includes a refrigerator and grill in addition to dinghy storage aft and a well-designed helm console. No lightweight, Cummins 660hp diesels cruise the 55 Pilothouse at 16–18 knots.
