Delta
36 SFX
1987–2006
Built by Canaveral Custom Boats in Cape Canaveral, FL, Delta boats are well known in the charter boat trade for their no-nonsense approach to the basics. The hulls are generally USCG cerjpgied, and construction is rugged with the emphasis on durability. In the Delta 36 SFX, however, there’s more than just a tough deep-V hull and a big—make that huge—fishing cockpit. This is truly an innovative and practical boat with very distinctive styling. What sets her apart from most other sportfish boats in the mid-range market is her unique raised command bridge—a spacious platform that splits the difference between a true flybridge and the raised bridge deck used in open express boats. Positioned about three feet above the cockpit level, this sensible concept provides a standup engine room (virtually unheard of in a small fisherman) with direct cockpit access and extraordinary headroom below. Below decks, the compact interior is thoughtfully arranged with a circular, pit-style dinette, full galley, and private bow stateroom with offset double berth. A good sea boat, she’ll cruise around 24–26 knots with 435hp Cat (or 400hp Cummins) diesels with a top speed of close to 30 knots.
