Chaparral

2835 SS; 285 SSi

1999–2006

Chaparral 2835 SS; 285 SSi
Big day boats with spacious cockpits and modest cabins have become increasing popular in recent years. (Most family day-boats of this type the interiors see very little use.) Built on a soft-riding deep-V hull, the 285 SSi (called the 2835 SS in 1999) is a well-built sportboat whose combination of solid performance and quality construction have made her a very popular model for Chaparral. The large, divided cockpit is fitted with a U-shaped lounge opposite the helm, fore and aft facing lounges, a removable cocktail table that converts the lounges into a sun pad, wet bar with sink, and a walk-through transom. An electric lift mechanism raises the aft section of the U-shaped lounge and makes access to the engine compartment easy. Cabin amenities include a dinette/double berth, mini-galley, four opening ports, and a private head compartment with a pull-up shower and vacuum-flush toilet. Additional features include an eye-catching burlwood dash panel and side exhausts. A good performer, twin 300hp Volvo I/Os cruise the 285 SSi at 30 knots (45+ top).
