Chaparral

26-27 Signature

1992–2000

Chaparral 26-27 Signature
Called the 26 Signature when she was introduced in 1992 and the 27 Signature from 1993 to 1999. This was the second of three Chaparral products to carry the Signature 27 model designation —± the original Signature 27 (1988–1991) was trailerable with a narrow beam. Featuring good-quality materials and solid construction, the 27/270 was priced slightly above the average for sport cruisers her size. An elevated foredeck provides marginal headroom below at the expense of a somewhat top-heavy exterior appearance. The cabin layout is arranged with a circular dinette/V-berth forward, a compact galley and head, and a snug midcabin stateroom aft. Outside, an L-shaped lounge is opposite the helm, and a hideaway bench seat is fitted at the transom. With no windshield opening and narrow side decks, foredeck access is difficult. Additional features include an integral bow pulpit, anchor locker, transom door, and a removable cockpit table. Among several engine options, a single 300hp MerCruiser I/O will cruise at 25 knots and reach a top speed of 34–35 knots.
