Californian Yachts 48 Motor Yacht
Used Californian motor yachts have generally held their values very well on the used market thanks to their quality construction, well-executed interiors, and better-than-average finish. The flush-deck styling of the 48 Motor Yacht may not be timeless but it certainly has aged well over the years. Like her sisterships in the Californian fleet, she was constructed on an easily driven modified-V hull with a shallow keel and a relatively narrow beam. Her three-stateroom interior—the original floorplan had over/under berths forward—was tastefully finished with teak woodwork throughout (dark walnut in pre-1988 models). A slide-out settee in the small guest stateroom aft of the salon converts into a double berth, and all three heads are fitted with separate stall showers. With her narrow beam and wide side decks, the salon dimensions are modest compared with those of other 48-footers. The aft deck, however, is very spacious as is the flybridge. A modest performer with standard 375hp Cats, she’ll cruise at 15–16 knots. Optional 485hp 6-71s cruise at 18–19 knots (20+ top). The Californian 55 Cockpit MY is the same boat with a cockpit.
