Buddy Davis Yachts
61 Convertible
1987–92
The Davis 61 Convertible is a semi-custom sportfishing yacht whose combination of open-water handling and classic Carolina styling were widely admired in the professional boating community. Her ability to run into a head sea is legendary. In the Davis 61, a savvy buyer could get the look and feel of a custom boat for the price of a top-tier production model. Built on a modified-V hull, the enormous cockpit of the 61—with low gunnels, teak covering boards, and teak cockpit sole—was designed for tournament-level pursuits. Most Davis 61s were sold with four-stateroom teak interiors with three heads and queen berths in the amidships master stateroom and forward VIP stateroom. Bunks are in the other two staterooms, both of which share a common head/shower. A washer/dryer was optional in the aft guest stateroom. Topside, the flybridge features a custom teak helm console with Panish single-lever controls and pop-up electronics display. Detroit 1,050hp 12V92s cruise the Davis 61 at 25 knots (with tower and full fuel) and reach a top speed of 28–30 knots. A popular model, a total of 35 were built before production ended in 1992.
