PRINCESS OWNERS’ HOLIDAY BLOCK ISLAND RECAP 2022

PRINCESS OWNERS’ HOLIDAY BLOCK ISLAND RECAP 2022

By Katie Flanagan   August 16, 2022

Last month in late July, a fleet of Princess Yacht owners ventured north up the eastern seaboard to the 2022 Princess Owners Holiday event hosted in Block Island, RI. Block Island is home to Champlin's Resort and Marina, where Princess Yachts resided during the event. The 2022 Block Island Rendezvous had 15 HMY Princess Yacht Owners participate in this exciting event.

With each passing summer, Princess continues to build on their Princess Owners Holiday Events. Their team elevates the bar event after event to truly deliver a special experience for all the Princess Owners that attend. Owners traveled from near and far to come together on their vessels to enjoy a week of New England hospitality, cuisine, entertainment, and events.  Throughout the week some of the activities included lawn games, cozy fire pits, a pickleball tournament, a floral centerpiece design class, scooter tours, a “dock-tail” competition, an egg toss competition, block-island cuisine, and a lobster broil.

Thursday, July 28th: The event kicked off on Thursday with the majority of the owners arriving via a Princess yacht to Champlin’s Resort and Marina. Princess Yachts and HMY welcome gift bags were distributed to the owners, and guests were greeted with famous Block Island mudslides.

Later in the evening, all the event attendees gathered for a welcome dinner and cocktails at The Spring House. Princess owners were able to grab a drink on the expansive, lush lawn and enjoy gorgeous ocean views with their friends and family. Entertainment and dancing followed a swordfish and NY strip dinner.

Friday, July 29th: Friday kicked off with a coffee station and a breakfast buffet overlooking the marina at Champlin’s Resort and Marina. Owners then spent the morning building elaborate floral centerpieces in a design class, followed by scooter and bike tours around the island.

Friday afternoon followed quickly, and the famous “dock-tail” competition began at 3:30 pm. Each Princess Yacht that participates in this competition is encouraged to concoct a unique cocktail and share with a team of judges. Drinks were judged on the following criteria:

  • Name
  • Flavor
  • Creativity
  • Uniqueness
  • Relevance to the event location

It was safe to say that there was no shortage of creativity and that everyone enjoyed the “dock-tail” competition.

Saturday, July 30th: The day began with "breakfast by boat” in the marina. The Princess team delivered fresh baked goods from Aldo’s bakery to each Princess Yacht. Aldo’s Bakery is a local bakery on Block Island that has been around for over 50 years. Aldo’s bakery has a small skiff that can be seen driving around the marina in Block Island, selling baked goods from their boat on the water. We highly recommended the cannolis if you see an Aldo’s Bakery skiff driving around after dinner.

A variety of events were held for the rest of the day. Owners could participate in the pickleball tournament at O’Brien’s Park. Other owners joined a seashell art class and created seascape art pieces.

Saturday evening came to a close with the egg toss competition and closing dinner on the lawn at Champlin’s. Dinner was held at the hospitality tent for an old-fashioned lobster boil with all the fixings. Princess owners enjoyed the cuisine, drinks, live entertainment, and awards throughout the evening.

On Sunday, July 31st, the event wrapped up with coffee and breakfast delivered to each Princess Yacht.

Owners who have recently joined the Princess Yacht Family and are soon to take delivery of their new vessels also joined the event and stayed on Block Island. We are looking forward to seeing these owners on their new Princess Yachts in the near future!

HMY Yacht Sales would like to thank Princess Yachts America for hosting a spectacular yachting event.
