Wally was founded in 1994 by Italian entrepreneur Luca Bassani, originally headquartered in Monaco. The brand entered the powerboat market in 2001, expanding from its original sailing-yacht roots, and built a reputation as a pioneer of carbon-fiber construction in performance yacht design. Yachting Magazine's coverage of the 48 Wallytender documents the Ferretti Group's acquisition of Wally in January 2019 and describes the first model developed under that ownership.
Since joining the Ferretti Group in 2019, Wally models are produced at the group's facilities in the Mondolfo and Ancona area of Italy, on the Adriatic coast, integrating Wally's production into the broader Ferretti manufacturing network.
