McConaghy Boats' own history traces the company to 1967, when John McConaghy founded the builder in Australia. McConaghy was an early adopter of prepreg carbon fiber and aerospace-grade composites in marine construction — materials the company applied to some of the most demanding racing programs in sailing, including America's Cup and Volvo Ocean Race yachts, before turning those same construction methods toward cruising multihulls. The first McConaghy cruising catamaran launched in 2018. Production today runs across facilities in Zhuhai, China and Sydney, Australia, with Tiger Group investment backing the brand.
