Burger Boat Company's history in Manitowoc, Wisconsin traces to 1863, when Henry B. Burger Sr. established the family shipyard. The yard was formally named Burger Boat Company in 1915 and built wooden cruisers in its early decades before transitioning to welded aluminum construction mid-century. Burger remains one of the oldest continuously operating custom yacht builders in the United States, and it still builds from its original Manitowoc shipyard today.

Burger began working with welded aluminum in 1952 and is widely credited as a pioneer of aluminum yacht construction in America. Each Burger is a fully bespoke commission executed in aluminum and/or steel, meaning no two hulls are identical. HMY Yacht Sales carries pre-owned Burger yachts from multiple decades of the builder's output, spanning both the early aluminum and later custom-steel era.
