Broward buying is less about picking a model than about picking a hull and a maintenance history. Power & Motoryacht's Broward 100 used-boat review covers the early-1970s move from wood to aluminium and the series production that followed in the 100-foot-plus segment, and Yachting's Broward 120 describes the raised-pilothouse format that most examples share. Used Broward inventory at HMY Yacht Sales has recently run from about 103 to 125 feet across model years from the mid-1980s to the mid-2000s, with asking prices from roughly $800,000 to $4.2 million and a median near $2.5 million. Several hulls on the market have been extended, rebuilt or substantially refitted, so two boats listed at the same length and year can be very different vessels — read the refit history before reading the asking price.
Survey priorities on an aluminium motoryacht of this age are specific and worth budgeting for. Have the hull and superstructure checked for corrosion at dissimilar-metal joints, around through-hulls, under insulation and in the bilge and tank spaces, and have the bonding and grounding system tested rather than assumed. Paint age is a major cost variable: a hull due for a full repaint carries a six-figure item that should be reflected in the price. Beyond the structure, the pricing levers are whether the mains have been repowered or rebuilt and when, generator hours and service records, the age of the wiring, switchboards and HVAC plant, tank and piping condition, and the vintage of the navigation electronics. A boat that has been crewed and run continuously typically presents better than a lower-hour example that has sat, and the documentation gap between the two is usually visible at survey.
