"HMY Yacht Sales lists and sells more custom boats than any other brokerage firm." - Scott Levin, HMY Yacht Sales Professional.

Buying a custom sportfishing boat can be a daunting task, one that requires patience, a firm understanding of your wants and needs in the boat, and of course, money. The process of building a custom boat is like starting with a blank sheet of paper. Not only does the design of the boat need to be drawn, but every feature, component, fixture, and detail needs to be decided by the owner. Having a knowledgeable broker to guide you through this process and negotiate on your behalf with the builder can be a huge asset and take away much of the stress of going through the experience. The end result is a completely unique boat unlike any other vessel on the water. So what happens when you're ready to sell a custom boat? How do you choose the right yacht brokerage firm that has custom boat experts on staff? As HMY Yacht Sales Professional Glenn Clyatt says in the video, "Custom boats are expensive. Why would you entrust your multi-million dollar boat to someone that's part time?" At HMY, we have the most experienced, professional team of full-time yacht brokers in the industry and our custom boat experience is unmatched.

Here are 5 reasons why HMY is the best professional brokerage firm to list your custom sportfishing boat.

HMY Yacht Sales lists and sells more custom boats than any other brokerage firm. I started off in the business at 19 years old as a boat captain and I ran mostly all custom boats. At the age of 18 I went out and got my captain's license and have never looked back. After graduating with a business maritime degree, I spent the next 27 years traveling around the world on custom sport fishing boats. I've held a 100 ton license for 30 years. I've been a fisherman up until the last five years when I became the yacht broker. We got Glenn Clyde involved with HMY. They had found this boat. It was up in Orange Beach, Alabama. They said, listen, if you like this boat, we got to get up there tomorrow. And sitting on the back of the mezzanine, we shook hands on a deal and it was down in Miami within less than two weeks. HMY handled it so well. It was a flawless transaction. Nobody brings more to the table than HMY. I've been doing business with HMY for well over 20 years. The brokers have been there for a long time. I've always felt like I'm getting the real story about the boat, which allows me to make an informed decision whether that's the right boat for me. At HMY Yacht Sales, we have an outstanding sales team. We have 45 full-time brokers that do this day in and day out. Custom boats are expensive. Why would you entrust your multi-million dollar boat to someone that's part-time? We don't have part-time brokers at HMY. Everybody is full-time every day dedicated to sell boats. Guys like Dave Myers, Scott Levin, Pat Kelly, Dave Berard, Glenn Clyde, Tim Gradic, Jeff Crary, Brandon O'Connor. Nobody's had more experience in running them or selling them than the team at HMY. Custom boats generally are light boats that are very maneuverable and very efficient. Everything about them is built exactly for performance. Custom boat buyers are a different breed. Some of them are hardcore fishermen just looking for a fast boat to get their daily needs accomplished. You're using this boat to travel the world in the most unique destination and fish. Others are looking for something unique, a piece of furniture that floats on the ocean. It makes it a little bit different than having what everybody else has and nobody can say they have the same thing. Some different features that we did on the boomer that a lot of different boats didn't have was you have a steering station that is inside the boat, but for fishing purposes we actually made it where the back window drops down and you're able to drive the boat from out back. That's the only problem with selling custom boats is most of the guys that buy them don't sell them every two or three years. If they love them, they have them for quite a long time. The custom boat market has been extremely hot here as of really the last two years. As a perfect example, they just had the custom boat shootout. They had a record 61 boats. I was fishing with my good friend Robert Cruz, nicknamed Cruiser Cruz, on the cowpoke. You know the guys like to get together and they talk about each other's boats. We know everybody in the business, so when we go over to the custom boat shootout we know all the builders. We know most of the customers. It is a network of people for sure. We had an exceptional tournament, as we always do, and it was good fun and good camaraderie for everybody. One of the biggest reasons that I'm successful at HMY is because of my relationships with crews and captains and clients around the world. I've helped other people with doing many outfits on custom boats from just changing engines all the way through rehabbing them all and doing teak. We've been used to dealing with these systems and engines. Our experience comes from us being a captain. I spent a lot of time paying attention to them and asking a lot of questions. When you do that, you meet a lot of people, you learn a lot, and you see how boats are built, which helps us with our client base. Now selling them for the last 20 years has just enhanced that greatly. Besides having the right people in the right places, we have a full-time marketing department. We get into everyone worldwide. It is much larger than any other company in the business. So I think we get to find different buyers that the other companies aren't able to find. Listing and selling these boats, that's what it's about. If you're considering selling your boat or you want to get a market analysis, please give one of us a call. We'd love to have the opportunity to come sit down with you.
