266-270 Sport Cabin

World Cat 266-270 Sport Cabin
Power cats have made believers out of a good many serious anglers in recent years thanks to their combination of stability, enhanced deck space, and excellent economy. There are some drawbacks to cats, however—they don’t look as good as most monohulls, and walkaround cats suffer from limited cabin space because they don’t have a deep hull to step into. Those caveats aside, the World Cat 270 SC (called the 266 SC in 1998–2002) will satisfy anglers looking for a trailerable fishing cat with no-frills cabin accommodations and better-than-average finish. She rides on a pair of semi-displacement hulls rather than the higher-speed (but harder-riding) planing hulls used by some catamaran builders. Her uncluttered cockpit contains a transom fish box, thickly padded bolsters, a bait-rigging station behind the helm seat, and a raw-water washdown. The foredeck casting platform is very wide, and the side decks are easily negotiated. If the cabin suffers from low headroom, it’s nonetheless broad and comfortable with an a athwartships double berth, rod storage, and a marine head. Twin 200hp Yamaha outboards cruise at 30 knots (40+ top).
