Wellcraft
3700 Corsica
1989–91
Lasting only two years in production, the Wellcraft 37 Corsica is an unremarkable mid-cabin cruiser whose spacious interior and low price were designed to appeal to entry-level buyers on a budget. Built on a solid fiberglass hull with generous beam, the Corsica’s original mid-cabin layout was judged too confining so Wellcraft engineers devised an all-new floorplan after the first 15 boats had been built. The small dinette found in the original layout was replaced by a wet bar and a serving counter—an unusual design since dinettes are almost taken for granted in modern sportboats—and storage space was greatly improved. Outside, the cockpit is arranged with excellent seating accommodations including a double-wide helm seat, an L-shaped settee to port, and bench seating at the transom. A wet bar and walk-through transom door were standard. Additional features include wide side decks, plenty of cabin headroom, a bow pulpit, and a radar arch. An average performer even with big-block 502-cid V-drive gas engines, the Wellcraft 37 Corsica will cruise at 20 knots and reach a top speed of just under 30 knots.
